Sheetz to open new location on Midlothian Turnpike this week
Convenience store giant Sheetz continues its growth in the Richmond market, with its newest location set to open this week on Midlothian Turnpike near the Powhite Parkway interchange.
The chain expects to open the location at 9420 Midlothian Turnpike on Thursday. It features a 6,000-square-foot store and 16 fuel pumps, according to a company spokesman.
It would be at least the second Sheetz to open in western Chesterfield this year. In February, the company opened a location at 12851 Lucks Lane near Brandermill.
Sheetz has 15 locations in the Richmond and Petersburg areas, per the company’s website.
The new outpost comes as the first piece of completed development on a 30-acre assemblage once planned as a location of local flower shop Strange’s Florist, but that is now being carved up and sold off.
Sheetz bought the 2.7-acre parcel for the new store acquisition earlier this year for $2.5 million. The seller was an LLC tied to Strange’s.
Another piece of the Strange’s assemblage at 9286 N. Tuxford Road was recently purchased by an entity tied to Charlotte-based developer Mitchener Properties for $800,000. A Take 5 Oil Change location is planned to be built on the less-than-acre parcel.
Elsewhere on the Strange’s site, plans were filed this summer for a pair of hotels on a nearly 10 acres at 9500 Midlothian Turnpike.
