Starbucks to open in old West Broad bank branch next month, also eyes spot near Northside

An old bank branch near the intersection of Broad and Glenside is about to perk up after going dark a few years ago.

Starbucks is planning to open a new location in early August in a former Wells Fargo storefront at 7101 W. Broad St. in western Henrico, according to a company spokesperson.

The Seattle-based coffee giant is underway on converting the long-vacant building into a cafe, which will also have a drive-thru.

Starbucks is slated to open there Aug. 8, injecting a jolt of activity into a property that has sat empty since Wells Fargo shuttered the branch in 2019. It sits across the street from the West Broad Honda dealership.

It’s latest of several bank-turned-cafe conversions Starbucks has completed locally in recent years. Other examples include the location that opened in 2023 in the former BB&T bank branch at 6201 River Road, as well as the cafe that took over the former Virginia Commonwealth Bank at 1118 Courthouse Road in Chesterfield. Last month, Starbucks opened a new-construction location at The Lake mixed-use project near Brandermill.

The Victory Auto Credit at 5308 Brook Road is planned to be renovated into a new Starbucks to open in 2026.

Starbucks also has another new location in the works in Henrico, this time taking the place of a former car dealership near Lakeside.

The chain is planning to open a store with a drive-thru at 5308 Brook Road. The property is currently occupied by car dealership Victory Auto Credit, which appears to be closed. According to filings submitted to the county, Starbucks plans to reuse the existing building with a partial demolition and renovation of the existing structure’s envelope.

The Starbucks spokesperson said that location, which is just off the Interstate 95 exit and across from Wawa, is anticipated to open in the first half of 2026.
