Plaintiff, in his late 70s, says he was a victim of elder abuse and financial fraud at the hands of third parties relating to savings accounts that he opened in September 2024 with defendant, and is now faced with the likelihood of living the rest of his life in poverty, as in less than the course of a month, his entire life savings of nearly $800,000 was transferred into and out of the Discover accounts in a small number of large international wire transactions due to defendant’s failure to exercise ordinary care in the administration of the accounts despite numerous red flags. Plaintiff says defendant failed to take adequate steps to stop obviously fraudulent transfers and seeks judgment of $798,345.61.

Plaintiff alleges conversion and conspiracy and says the auctioned items had been appraised at $102,805, and that manager Charbonneau conspired with his business partner Smith to bid on the property at a cost of $600, and upon information and belief, then split the spoils of the illegal sale with Charbonneau. Plaintiff seeks compensatory damages of $102,805, and punitive, $350,000.
